COLLABORATING ARTISTS PHASE 1——ZHONG YULING

Zhong Yuling, a Unique Chinese Painter, Illustrator. She is famous for painting traditional Chinese mythological characters such as Zhong Kui and the God of Wealth. Her works are simple and approachable, with a naive charm in her brushwork. Her small freehand (xiaoxieyi) pieces often take traditional figures as a basis, combining modern internet-era interpretations with her own personal experiences and insights, using the past to express contemporary ideas. Her meticulous brushwork (gongbi) pieces often depict beautiful women, with a classical elegance and a free and easy style, showing a good balance between tension and relaxation.

 

#钟馗 Zhong Kui, also known as Chung Kuei, is a legendary figure in Chinese folklore who is widely recognized as a fierce and powerful guardian against evil spirits and misfortunes. Often depicted with a fierce face, wild hair, and dressed in official robes, Zhong Kui is revered as a symbol of justice and protection.


In Chinese folklore, the image of Zhong Kui is often hung to ward off evil spirits and disasters. The tale of “Zhong Kui catching ghosts” has been passed down through the ages.
